Labs that go along with this objective include 4.1.1 Path of blood in the Heart and 4.1.2 Anatomy of the Heart. These two labs meet the criteria for this objective because they both discuss the structure and function of veins and arteries. Two ways they did this was by one: creating a heart box to illustrate the structures and functions and two: dissecting a sheep heart to learn hands on the structures and functions. At the beginning of the semester I did not know any differences between arteries and veins. Now I know that arteries travel away from the heart and veins travel towards the heart. I also have learned that arteries are bigger and thicker than veins. Veins are also less structured than arteries and can easily move and change shape to ensure stable blood flow.
